Trickster's Choice By: Tamora Pierce

Alianne also known as Aly, daughter of the great Lioness, Allana, is just a normal girl that helps her father with his spy work for the King and Queen. One day, wanting to give her parents a day alone, she takes a river trip and get abducted by pirates! And sold into slavery! She meets up with the Duke Balitang's family and get tossed into a long struggle between Copper Isle Royalty, peasants and the Gods. She now has to protect the family, help the Trickster God, Kyprioth, and try to figure out Nawat Crow, a crow turned human. To think she used to believe pleasing her mother was difficult!

Michaela: I've always been a fan of Tamora's writing and she is my idol. This is one of my favorite books and I've read it more than once and can quote parts of it. No one can really say they read a good book until they read this one!

Dragon Rider By: Cornelia Funke

When humans move in on the land the dragons are living on, Firedrake takes up a quest to find a place of legend where all the dragons could live in peace. He is joined by Sorrel, a foul tempered brownie, and Ben, an orphan from the city. Together, with some assistance from a few rats, they go in search of the dragon's new home. But an old dragon eater, Nettlebrand, wants to stop them from finding the new home and wants to eat the rest of the dragon clan. Will they make it or will they die trying?

Michaela: Cornelia's writing is simple but the way she tells the story, that's all it needs. She successfully mixes fantasy with real life and I was sucked in the entire time. I love her work and all of her other books.
